Position: Baseball Coach
Lcoation: Luther Burbank Middle School
Hours: Part -Time, Seasonal 3 Months Employment
Organizational Scope:
To instruct student athletes in the fundamental skills, strategy, and training necessary for them to realize a degree of
individual and team success, an increased level of self-esteem, and an appreciation for the values of discipline and
sportsmanship. Reports to Athletic Director and/or building principal.

Position Responsibilities:
- Works closely with the Athletic Director in planning and scheduling a regular program of sports practices and interscholastic contests.
- Establishes with the assigned staff the fundamental philosophy, skill, and technique training appropriate for student athletes participating in the particular sport.
- Maintains and provides, as assigned, all appropriate documentation and record keeping to fulfill system and/or state requirements including, but not limited to, individual physical examinations, parental consents, insurance records, equipment inventories and the like.
- Oversees the safety conditions of the facility or area in which the assigned sport is conducted at all times that student-athletes are present.
- Oversees and monitors the appropriate and respectful use of all school facilities, sports equipment, and school property inclusive of general cleanliness and the security of such at all times that student-athletes are present.
- Works closely with the Athletic Director in the issuance, collection, and storage of all sport related equipment, supplies, and uniforms.
- Participates with the Athletic Director in the development of the budget and recommends the purchase of equipment, supplies, and uniforms in this budget process as appropriate to the particular sport.
- Monitors student athlete scholastic grades and other performance criteria for eligibility in inter-scholastic competition in the particular sport season per state and local regulations.
- Enforces good school citizenship and sportsmanlike behavior at all times and participates in due process procedures concerning potential penalties for the breach of such standards by individual student-athletes.
- Coaches individual participants in the skills necessary for excellent achievement in the involved sport and oversees the coaching provided by other involved staff in the particular sports program.
- Fosters good public relations with news media, parents, officials, booster clubs, volunteers, fans and other school staff and, if authorized and as appropriate, provides quality information for sports related releases to the media.
- Assists the Athletic Director in the annual evaluation of other staff involved in the particular sports program.
- Assists athletes and/or their parents in the selection of college or work force opportunities.
- Adheres at all times to rules and regulations of the Nashoba Regional School District
- Adheres at all times to rules and regulations set forth in the MIAA Handbook, Nashoba Regional Coaches Procedural Handbook, Nashoba Regional Student-Athlete/Parent Handbook and all Midland-Wachusett League Rules.
- The omission of specific duties here does not exclude them from the position’s responsibilities if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment to the position.
Job Qualifications:
Knowledge of existing local, league, and state sports regulations and the ability to oversee their consistent implementation using proper administrative channels.
First aid certification and current cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification.
Clear understanding of concussion protocols and the ability to implement them.
Knowledge of the activity being coached.
Physical Demands:
Ability to walk, stand and run consistent with coaching responsibilities.
Ability to lift equipment specific to the sport being coached.
Ability to bend and twist regularly at the waist, knees and neck.
Terms Of Employment, Evaluation of Performance and Salary:
Part-time extracurricular activity with hours which coincide with the school’s athletic game and
practice schedules as appropriate. Salary for this stipended position is per the stipend
agreement of the Nashoba Regional School District Unit A contract currently in effect.
