Position: Long Term Substitute Athletic Trainer
Location: Nashoba Regional High School
Pay: $45 hour (December and January AY24-25)

Organizational Scope:
The Long Term Substitute Athletic Trainer reports directly to the Athletic Director
Position Responsibilities:
Covering a Leave of Absence - the Long Term Substitute Athletic Trainer works to ensure the safe and effective performance of student athletes by providing preconditioning, conditioning and reconditioning treatment by:
- Supports the athletes by focusing on prevention of athletic injuries, recognition,evaluation and immediate care of athletic injuries, rehabilitation and reconditioning of athletic injuries, health care administration, and professional development and responsibility as specified by the National Athletic Trainers’ Association.
- Provides coverage of practices and daily events (according to a schedule created in conjunction with the Athletic Director).
- Covers all home contests for all levels on weekdays, weeknights, and weekends according to the schedule set in conjunction with the Athletic Director.
- Advises athletes regarding proper maintenance of good health and conditioning.
- Serves as liaison between physicians, allied health providers, coaches, athletes and parents while establishing a respectful and professional relationship with them as required.
- Protects students by ensuring that players participate only when physically able and that any physician’s instructions are understood and followed.
- Is responsible for the athletic training room and on-site event coverage.
- Works and maintains daily hours of operation in the athletic training room according to schedule created in conjunction with the Athletic Director.
- Maintains a clean and safe environment in the athletic training room, locker rooms and weight room.
- Maintains confidential athlete records including accident reports and rehabilitation procedures and provides reports as required to the Athletic Director.
- Renders emergency care to athletes as necessary until transfer of medical responsibility is made to a physician or recognized EMS. During school day, works in conjunction with school nurse to ensure proper care of athletes.
- Provides water coolers, bottles, cups and ice for athletic contests
- Other duties as required.
Job Qualifications & Physical Demands
Must have a Massachusetts License as Athletic Trainer, hold NATABOC Certification, maintain
current CPR/First Aid and AED Certification and recommended experience with SWAY concussion testing.
Must effectively promote and uphold the District’s mission, vision, goals and policies as well as state,local and federal applicable laws and regulations.
Must have computer skills including Microsoft Word and Excel, have excellent verbal and written communication skills; and, the ability to manage multiple, simultaneous tasks, including the ability to prioritize, manage and organize your own workload. |
